Eco-Social Farming For Social Inclusion
The Eco-Social Farm for Social Integration in village Oblika of Shkodra, is an initiative of non-profit “The Door” to develop opportunities for social inclusion and integration of vulnerable and excluded groups.
The Farm brings a new social-economic model in Albania with solutions for employment of marginalized groups. Employment helps out young people with special abilities to live actively, to feel valuable, to develop life skills and gain economic independence from families. Integration of this category through employment will change their lives and will pave the way for thousands of others who suffer isolation and exclusion due to prejudice to disability. This model targets the negative mentality in Albanian society that people with disabilities are a burden to family and society.
The geographic location of the farm at a cross point, close to the road connecting Albania with Montenegro, an extension of the road (Balkan) of Adriatic Riviera, tread by locals and foreign tourists gives enough hope for an increase in the number of tourists at the Farm. Investing in farm is not threatened by competition; two eco-camps that exist in Shkodra are far away from Eko-social Farm and none offers a similar variety of services.
Founders sustain that the farm future will be the creation of tourist services.
