Eko Bag is a citizens association founded in Belgrade in 2010. The main objective of the enterprise is hiring long-term unemployed women through the production of recyclable materials. The idea was initiated and created by Miodrag Nedeljković, executive director of Initiative for Development and Cooperation, experienced in the economic empowerment of vulnerable groups. Today three female are involved, all belonging to the group of hard-to-employ women who used to work, but still have not met the retirement criteria.
They generate income by selling bags and other useful accessories made of recyclable materials. EkoBag focuses on the specific recycling used print PVC vinyl – banners from advertising campaigns. In that manner the material which is actually a specific waste which would after a period of advertising if not treated properly, directly and/or indirectly cause environmental pollution, becomes useful constituent in further production. From this material different items of high utility and value added (bags , folders , bags , wallets , etc.) are sewn.
Their well-known eco-bags are original and attractive product which promote the environmental protection through recycling, and at the same time help the women who manufacture them.
