Lutolska Social Cooperative WINDA (ELEVATOR) was founded in 2008 by two legal entities: the “Our House” Foundation and the Association of Foster Parenting in Żagan. The main aim of the WINDA cooperative is to help the unemployed and economically inactive young adults and people with disabilities on the labour market. The social cooperative offers vocational and social reintegration programs directed especially to young adults raised in foster families or orphanages. In particular, the WINDA aims to accustom their mentees to cope with responsibilities and fulfill work obligations. It enables professionally marginalized people to experience and discover their potential in working environment.
WINDA activities are part of the social economy, and may serve as an alternative to passive forms of social assistance. The cooperative works with entrepreneurs to restore and maintain participants ability to perform various social roles in the workplace and to work and thrive on the labor market. Long-term reintegration is combined with a social program (its elements contain: volunteering in NGOs, participation in projects, placements in WINDA, public work, employment contracts etc.).
They also carry on preparation of meals for children/families covered by social assistance program, for which WINDA usually uses existing infrastructure in schools (kitchen equipment, canteens). They recently distributed food to 6 schools, 2 kindergartens and a nursery, giving out approx. 800 meals daily, providing employment for over a dozen of people.
